JESUS, JUNK AND THE JURISDICTION (or: my story thus so far)

“I read Shakespeare and the Bible, and I can shoot dice. That’s what I call a liberal education.” – Tallulah Bankhead

There’s been numerous ways to describe me. Depending on the situation I could be a mixture of both simplicity and complex. In other words, I’m either that cool chick you know or the girl you love to hate. The choice is yours. As for me, I’m happy in my own skin. I don’t need anyone’s permission to exist, nor to give an explanation as to why on the spot.

At the moment I’m a recovering romantic-holic, a cartoonist/artist/illustrator, a consumer of cinematic nasties, and perhaps one day I’ll get to cross the abyss. I suck at musical instruments and relations with the general human species.

Things that have rocked my world on and off, and sometimes still do: Indie/Alternative comics. Retro Hanna-Barbera animation. Animals, especially reptiles and felines. Film, especially art house, grindhouse, horror, sci-fi, b to z grade flicks, exploitation, 70s porn chic’. Literature. Metaphysical. Occult, Esoterica, Gnosticism, etc. Love music, especially 80’s Alternative/Indie, 80s New Wave, classic ’77 Punk, Industrial, Noise, 80s Goth, some vintage Jazz, some 60s Psychedelia, some Metal, Neofolk, etc. For your amusement I can throw on some real bizarre obscure crap on the stereo. Upon hearing the first few strains, it’ll magically induce you into finding some kind of excuse as to why you suddenly had to leave.

Some things I hate: Michael Jackson, NYC cab drivers, and hypocrisy.

I’ve tried to be a people’s poet and then I tried to be misanthropic, but neither worked out for me. Although I still lean towards being misanthropic, but somewhere inside me there’s a little black heart that still bleeds, dammit. WTF, where did that slight spark of optimism come from? Not fair, I’m telling you, not fair! So as long as there’s a little bit of sunshine left, I’ll still go down the rabbit hole.

In another moment down went Alice after it, never once considering how in the world she was to get out again. – Alice In Wonderland

You and I are both Alice, But, unlike Alice, the rabbit hole is where we were born and live, so it just quite the question, how to adapt, without becoming a Mad Hatter.
